Halloweeeeeeeen!

My kids don't even know who Raggedy Ann is. She is a lost icon of the past, but I just couldn't resist. I got out my old Raggedy Ann & Andy dolls that were packed away in the garage and explained to my boys that they were my favorite dolls. I made my own dress by buying an old night gown and Land Ends skirt from DI and modified them by adding eyelet and making an apron. Roman was very excited to be a Power Ranger and Hayden requested to be a pirate. He looked like a mini Jack Sparrow. Halloween is such a fun and simple holliday. We were invited to a few Halloween parties this year. A neighbor in our ward invited us to his party where he had his band come over and play for the crowd, they featured "Pop Goes My heart" from the movie "Music and Lyrics" it took me a minute to figure out where I had heard that song because it really does sound so authentically 80's.

I almost prefer Halloween over Christmas just because there is no expectations for grandiosity and if all you get is some fun size m&m's or candy corn everyone is usually pretty satisfied.

Raggedy Ann was one of my favorites as well. A few years ago I dressed up as Pippi Longstocking. My kids also had no idea who that was. It's interesting to see some things stay (Care Bears and Barbies) and others disappear over time.
